Deployed app to staging environments. Everything works fine but occasionaly when an action is executed the exception shown in the stack trace comes up. If I retry everything seems to work and no exception.

This keeps comming up once in a while and it's preventing the app from being deployed. I have had many sleepless night's and finally decided to post here. Am using MySQL and occasionally this exception that says
Communications link failure during commit(). Transaction resolution unknown comes up.

All help appreciated. Need it badly. I know it has to do with MySQL dropping the connection or something like that but I haven't figured out how to fix it.

Hibernate version:
2.1.8

Mapping documents:

Code between sessionFactory.openSession() and session.close():
Using suggested Thread local pattern to get session in web app
