We are using Hibernate 3.0.5 with spring in a J2EE environment and using a org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource. We tried to switch to Hibernate 3.1.3, but after exchanging the jar our mysql data base broke down, since the connections wheren't released anymore. Switched back to 3.0.5 and everything works fine again. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Ok, hasn't anybody else experienced this problem? Does anybody know what hibernate 3.1 does different in connection handling than hibernate 3.0 which could cause this problem?
