We have the architectute like
GUI -> Action Class -> Business Delegate Class -> EJB -> DB

Now we are planning to replace the EJB with hibernate. Earlier we used to cache any result of search query at Businees delegte level. As I learned that Hibernate actomtically cache resulte of any serach query, i do not feel any importance of using 3rd party cache at business-delegate level. please validate my undertanding.

Hibernate has a two level cache architecture. The session cache will (generally) always be present. The second level cache is optional and the query caching aspects are a optional feature even if other aspects of this cache are used. If you have an application cache there is nothing stopping you from continuing the use it. Take your time to understand how hibernate manages its caching then make the decision.
