Searched the forums, but wasn't able to find an answer.

Now that the new version of EHCache 1.2 supports 'distributed caching' can I use this now instead of JBossCache (TreeCache)?

The answer is depends. JBossCache is a transactional cache while ehcache is not. If you do not need transaction semantics in terms of the replication propagation then ehcache will be fine. I do believe ehcache is considering adding transactional support in the near future - see what happens.
