Post subject: Performance Penalty for Enabling Statistics?

I have Hibernate running in a couple of production environments and I am interested in enabling statistics (hibernate.generate_statistics=true) in order to use run time monitoring of the stats using JMX.

I'm interested if anyone has information on the performance penalty associated with switching on statistics collection, and if it is a reasonable option on a production system.

I've searched the user forum and the documentation and found no reference to this question. Anyone have any experiences to share?

Thanks in advance.
