hibernate 3

Hi!

In the database I have a column of type varchar(8000). The database and the JDBC driver allow 8000 characters. Only Hibernate shows an undefined exception if I try to insert more than 2000 characters. Why?
Please help.

Server: MS SQL Server 2000
JDBC: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
Hibernate: Hibernate 3
SQL-Type: varchar(8000)
Java-Type: String

fg,
