How would i go about reading property configuration from a mapping file in a java class.

I want to write a java class that for any of my object mapping documents i can retrieve info from eg. the database column name for that property, the name of the propety, propety type etc. I know this could be done somehow from the Configuration property but not really sure how and googling hasnt really help.

thnx for the help.
