java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Update queries only supported through HQL


are you serious? I can't do sql deletes? I guess I have to get a java.sql.Connection?

I opened a JIRA issue (http://opensource2.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-870) a while back, and recently someone posted a patch. So maybe it will get put in soon.

Until then, yes, you have to use the Session.connection().
