 Post subject: Question related to Hibernate performance

few days before when we are doing some Hibernate related coding

my team member told me using following way of mapping will increase performace

<property name="companyName" column="COMPANY_NAME" type="string"/>

because this will reduce some work of Hibernate and it will not use Reflection to determine type of property
is it true?
and if it is the case then what are the other ways to increase performance
