Code:
startTransaction();
MyClass a = session.load(MyClass.class, 1);
endTransaction();

alterMyObject(a);

startTransaction();
session.merge(a); <----- exception!
endTransaction();

why do I get
Code:
org.hibernate.PersistentObjectException: detached entity passed to persist: MyObject

??

if I try to session.lock(a, LockMode.NONE) before session.merge(a) I get a
Code:
org.hibernate.HibernateException: Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions
