I have read many articles on hibernate and logging, but they all say that you can use either log4J or the jdk 1.4 built-in logging, but then they all go on to show you how to turn on logging only in log4J.

Does anyone know how to do it with the jdk logger?

Don't put a log4j.jar into your classpath and run on JDK 1.4?
