Sorry; ignore the above message. I didn't mean to submit that.

The question I was going to ask was: would it be possible to take [only] the HQL implementation of Hibernate and install that server-side (how modular is the code)? Specifically, I'm wondering if I could create an hql_exec() stored procedure on Postgresql; it could read an xml mapping file to translate the hql statement into a series of standard SQL queries and return the result set.

Any thoughts appreciated.
