I want to use cached values in my Business-Object. e.g. i have a collection of objects and I want to calculate the sum of them

Code:
public class X {
  int x;
}

public class Y {
  List<X> myXes;

  int getSum() {
    int sum = 0;
    for (X x: myXes) {
      sum += x.x;
    }
    return sum;
  }
}

What if I want to cache the sum value. Can I use the setMyXes() method to mark the old sum as dirty?
What are your suggestions?

Thank you!
