Hibernate version: 3.1 rc3

I hope this isn't a commonly known issue because I feel like I've done my due diligence trying to find an answer to this problem.

It looks like the classic hql translator can no longer handle HQL queries with positional parameters.

At the heart of the matter is the stubbed out implementation of getParameterTranslations() in org.hibernate.hql.classic.QueryTranslatorImpl. This always returns 0 for the getOrdinalParameterCount() method, which causes an "ordinal parameter mismatch" error when trying to build the query plan.

We can't abandon positional parameters, so does this mean we're stuck taking the jump and moving to the AST parser?
