i have used ehcache..
but not getting improvement in speed..
can any body tell me how many files required to configure ehcache..
and where to put them...

you need:

1. define ehcache as your provider and define the strategy per class you want to cache, as described in http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/v3/reference/en/html/performance.html#performance-cache.

2. put ehcache.xml in the classpath.

if you have acccess to "Hibernate in Action" look in section 5.3.3 Caching in practice.

Anyway, set show_sql to true so you can see whether the cache is effective or not.

hi i have done all the things ....
but it not help to improve speed ....
i get more speed without using hibernate, by simply EJB....

are ther any way to improve speed....

the question is whether the cache helped you to improve hibernate performance? do you get less SQLs executed?

there are many ways you can improve hibernate performance besides the 2nd level cache (caching queries, eager fetching, etc.), but it all depends on your specific application. look here:
