This message is to announce the release of Javelin 7 which now includes a Hibernate option (at final candidate level) to automatically, instantly and transparently generate and update Hibernate mapping files as changes occur via the visual object model. We are offering free licenses for Hibernate testers - see below.

What is Javelin
Javelin is a high productivity, yet extremely light weight visual modeler/coder that is designed to work along side your current IDE. It has been enhanced and refined for nearly a decade and is a winner of the Java Developer's Journal 'World Class Award'.

In Javelin all design and much of the coding of a Java project takes place via a UML-like class diagram - switching between modeling and coding takes place in zero time. Changes made to method bodies from outside the tool eg., from within your IDE (Eclipse etc.,) are preserved by Javelin's InSync code synchronization technology so you can use Javelin side-by-side with your existing IDE. Javelin is not designed to replace your existing IDE but compliment it.

Free to testers in the Hibernate community
Javelin's new Hibernate persistence mapping generator is at release candidate level and we seek feedback from the Hibernate community as to whether the automatic mappings it currently provides and the level of customization available meet the needs of Java developers using the successful Hibernate Object Relational mapping service.

We are therefore offering a free license of Javelin 7 (valid for final release and all following 7.x releases) to all those in the Hibernate community willing to install and test the new Hibernate feature and provide us any feedback they may have while using it. This offer of free licenses will cease after final release of this release candidate occurs.

We understand that Hibernate is by far the most successful O/R mapper to date and that is, in part, due to its ease of use. We hope that the use of Javelin makes persisting object models using Hibernate even easier and promotes the adoption of Hibernate in the development community even further.
