in the
Event.hbm.xml you have

<property name="date" type="timestamp" column="EVENT_DATE"/>



what is "timestamp" ?

type of what ? type of SQL-DB column or type of the java class member variable ?

It's neither.

The Java type is specified in your class. The type name is an abstract hibernate type name which is mapped to a concrete data base type by your selected data base dialect.

from where do i get those type ?

For example, i have a class which has member variable as "Long" , i have the corresponding DB column which has type "int".

What would be hibernate "type" Now ?
From where do i get the "type" . please show me the resource .
