I am new to Hibernate and I want to follow the roadmap in the hibernate.org website.

The site lists the following downloads:

Do I have to download all packages?
What are other software I need to have intalled before I want to be able to use Hibernate. For example, do I have to have J2SDK, j2EE, and an application server running? I am a little confused
