All the documentation, examples and posts seem to show filters focusing around restricting selects. But the user documents says they work similar to a view. Can they be used for insert update as well?

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure that the answer is no but can you be more specific about the problem you're trying to solve ?

large table, multiple processes (different permissions) updating specific columns. (to possibly simplify contention + have hibernate generate simpler update statements)

comments in docs says its like a view, well this is not true at all if you can't update into it.

thoughts?
