Need help with Hibernate? Read this first:

Hibernate version:
3.0.5
Mapping documents:

Code between sessionFactory.openSession() and session.close():

Full stack trace of any exception that occurs:

Name and version of the database you are using:
INFORMIX-OnLine
7.31.UC4

The generated SQL (show_sql=true):

Debug level Hibernate log excerpt:

I get a SQLException (Identifier lenth to long) when I have a query on a table with quite a bit of columns and most of the associated tables are eagerly fetched via outer-join. This is because the length of the columns clause in the sql select is simply too long for Informix 7.3. I tried the SQL statement with a select * instead of all the column names explicitely in an SQL query tool and that worked fine ( the number of outer joins themselves is not a problem).

So is it possible to specify some configuration setting so that Hibernate generates more compact SQL (i.e. select * instead of select col1, col2,....)?

For the moment I work around the problem by not outer join fetchen most of the associations and hence breaking the one big sql query up into multiple SQL queries, but it would be nice (performance wise) to do it in one query. [/url]
