Am I missing something? In the normal class mapping you can say:

<property name="fname"/>
<property name="lname"/>
<property name="password"/>

and the column is assumed to be the name. But when mapping a stored procedure:
<return class="User">
<return-property name="fname" column="fname"/>
<return-property name="lname" column="lname"/>
<return-property name="password" column="password"/>
</return>

I have to supply the column? Why the extra typing?

its no longer needed in hibernate 3 - read the docs ,) (not sure if you get it all in the latest 3.0.5 release, but its definitly in the ejb3 preview and will be in the next release)

btw. it is ofcourse still needed if you start retuning two objects of the same class in the same row.....then you need to tell hibernate which fname goes where.

(but apparently users doesnt start doing such "fancy" stuff with sps and sql very often so no one notices it ,)
