I have some detailed questions about Hibernate support for Postgres. They're based on a decision I'm trying to make whether to use Postgres 8.0 or Postgres 7.4 for a Windows installation.

1. The website states that Postgres 7.4 is officially supported. Does this include the Cygwin port of Postgres? In other words, has official testing been done on the Cygwin Postgres Port?

2. Has there been any work done by Hibernate or the Hibernate community to test Hibernate with Postgres 8.0? What has been the results?

Thanks.

Scott

I've used Hibernate with Postgres 8.0 isasfar as to ensure our app works with Postgres 8.0. It does. You need to use the most recent JDBC driver because an earlier one was buggy and didn't work properly.

Thank you both for the replies.

A few follow up questions for Rilux:

1. What version of Hibernate are you using?
2. Have you tried setting the hibernate.connection.isolation property? When we try, we see exceptions relating to invalid setting of the isolation level within the scope of a transaction.

Thanks.

1. 2.1.8

2. No, I haven't tried that. We're using the JDBCTransactionFactory but we haven't given it any extra configuration.
