how can I intercept a connection timeout when I try to commit a hibernate transaction ?

I am using hibernate 3.0.5 in a stateless session bean on JBoss 3.2.6
with Oracle 10g, and I want to warn the client if there are some locks when I try to commit.

I tried setting TransactionTimeout in Jboss TransactionManager but all I get is a jboss warning. I would like tx.commit() to throw a timeout exception.
