I was using hibernate3.0.1 and wanted to use bulk updates but as 3.0.1 does not support bulk update/delete, I had upgraded hibernate to hibernate3.0.5 and used the new parser 'org.hibernate.hql.ast.ASTQueryTranslatorFactory' .

Now I am able to do the bulk update/delete but all my theta-style outer joins have stopped working.

Does the new parser 'org.hibernate.hql.ast.ASTQueryTranslatorFactory' provided with hibernate 3.0.5 supports the stheta-style outer joins ?
