Hibernate version: 3.05

Name and version of the database you are using: Oracle 9i

Probably stupid, but I can't figure out how to count for a query that goes like

select distinct a, b from...

I have tried

select count (distinct a, b) from...

and select count(*) from (select distinct...)

(not possible as it seems there can't be subselects of that form) and I think some other variations I don't remember.

Is it at all possible to do that kind of counting?

Many thanks in advance!
