I am trying to implement 2nd level caching and posted my problem earlier, but I was hoping someone might be able to give me a short description of a scenerio where if I had a second-level cache set up properly it would actually be activated. I am thinking that I actually may have this configured properly and its working, only that I think it isn't working because I don't quite understand what second-level caching is really suppose to do. Also, I am not trying to do query caching, so that's not an issue.

Thanks,

Mike

What other reply than: "Read the docs about second level cache"
do you expect here ? ...or even better read Hibernate in action.

I have read all the documentation many times and have configured everything as the documentation suggests. My cache doesn't get read and I don't get any errors so I was trying to verify that I understand correctly what is suppose to be happening. Thank you.
