I want to implement the concept of a search engine that will search through the whole schema based on the users input. Is there anything in Hibernate that allows such a thing, or do I have to construct a query for each table?

You'd need a query for each table unless you fancy bringing something like Lucene into the equation.

Please don't ask how you'd do that - it's out of the scope of this forum and is an interesting (yet frustrating) exercise. :-)

Just for notification, I have used lucene before and I integrated it in the current application I am working on. Do you know where I could find info on how to integrate Lucene with Hibernate?
