I was wondering if the version of commons-collections with hibernate can be upgraded.

I've read this thread on tss, where some issues with backwards compatibility are discussed.

We now have a small problem in that some commons-collections functionality we need is from 3.x, and hibernate has stayed behind in 2.x for a long time. Are there plans for this upgrade ? I downloaded the 3.0beta hibernate in hopes of seeing a more recent collections, but it's still 2.x.

I've been using commons-collections for a while, and the changes aren't that big, so an upgrade should be easy.

I'm trying to raise this issue again. Wouldn't upgrading to the 3.x branch of collections benefit hibernate ?

Are there any sugestions for people that would like to use collections 3.x and hibernate at the same time ?
