Using the jar provided for Hibernate 3.0.1, I got an java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError.
Since I am using an 1.4 JDK, I suspect that the jar have been compiled for 1.5 JDKs.
I recompiled the hibernate3.jar and all went fine.

Complete error message :
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/hibernate/HibernateException (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

It has been compiled with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-141.4)
