With Hibernate 2.1 and Mysql 4.0

I've got a bi-directional one-to-many relationship with casecade="all".

When I delete the parent (the "one"), I'm glad to see all the children (the "many") get deleted to. However, I am surprised to see the children deleted one by one instead of with a single delete based on the foreign key in the child mapping.

Is this normal or could I have done something to pessimize Hibernate behavior?
