Hi,

Hibernate version: 3.0 (beta 4) or 2.1.8

Name and version of the database you are using:
Postgres 8.0 / PostGis 1.0

Is there anybody out there who integrated Hibernate with Postgis?

We are convinced of Hibernate but PostGis integration is a must. Our problem are -of course- the geometry fields of Postgis. So if you share your experience, a useful link or maybe some code we would appreciate it.

Yours
Jean-Pierre

Has anyone already created a CustomType for PostGIS data? I'm currently on the way trying to implement an extension to a an existing application which uses Hibernate (now version 2, will soon be version 3). One part of my tasks is to find out, if PostGIS data can be integrated into the Hibernate solution.

But right now I'm not really sure how this can exactly be done. Saving the PostGIS data seems to work, but loading is not done the way I'd like it to be done, as in my understanding the field with the PostGIS data i the DBMS must be fetched with the AsText() function and as far as I understand this is not possible with Hibernate.

So it would be great if there are already some solution I could look at or someone driving me in the right direction.
