I'd appreciate a point in the right direction about this (no need for a play by play, thanks!).

I'm in the middle of a port to Java/Hib etc, and among the toolset we have available to us, (recommended to use) is JUnit.

Is there a command line interface for Hibernate? or some method preferable to use as a way to test HQL quickly and easily with any of the technologies I mentioned above?

With oracle directly I can use sqlplus to get a sense of how response queries are and it helps for general debuggnig before integration into a web application. It's a really fast way to test/debug your SQL.
