As far as I did understand the documentation, Hibernate needs an external JTA provider to support distributed transactions.

If I deploy a standalone (Swing) application, is there a robust JTA provider in the open-source world?

Or is there another approach to support XA transactions?

Thanks!

There are standalone transaction managers like for example JOTM - http://jotm.objectweb.org/
