We are in the process of developing a new dialect for our database (Unisys 2200 RDMS). The database does not support subqueries (subselects). Is there way to specify this in the dialect or in the Hibernate properties? Or is this simply the responsibility of the application developer to not use subqueries in their HQL or native queries?
Thanks for your help.

Hibernate version:2.1.6

Name and version of the database you are using: Being developed.
