The following classes have static final singleton instances but no private constructor to prevent multiple instances being created:

net.sf.hibernate.cfg.DefaultNamingStrategy and net.sf.hibernate.cfg.ImprovedNamingStrategy

Somebody could subclass these classes and create multiple instances. What do you think?
