Is there a way to define a database index for a property without explicitly using the <column> tag and its index attribute? I would like to have an index created (by SchemaExport) for the column storing the property but I wouldn't like to specify the name of the index (since all of my non-composite index names are simply "$TableName_$ColumnName).

Hibernate version: 2.1
