Question about using a logging table and mutable="false":

I've got 'LogEntry' class that I have mapped to a 'logs' table.

I had set the class attribute mutable="false" since these entries will never be updated once written. Then I discovered I couldn't delete logEntries and I need to be able to delete old entries.

Is there a way to specify to hibernate to allow inserts and deletes but no updates?
Or can I get delete() to ignore the mutable="false" setting?

Or when I query the logs table can I tell hibernate to not track any changes to the logEntries cause I don't want then updated?
