I finally broke down and eliminated my composite primary keys for any tables that have additional columns other than the key columns. Now the question is, can I model this with a composite alternate key, and my synthetic primary key?

I found on page 354 of Hibernate in Action, that there is an attribute: unique-key in addition to unique. Xdoclet has support for this as well. I was making it harder than necessary I guess. I thought I needed an external class as I did when I was using a composite primary key.
