is there any way to make a single property lazy?
this property is not an entity though.

I have an Image, with a Blob, but I dont want that Blob to be loaded when I need to access other propertys of the Image

Locator objects (LOBs) are by definition lazily loaded.

I actually traced the sql that hibernate was executing in mysql (using mysql's logging function) and then executed that sql and it returned the blob data

could this (broken?) behaviour just be specific to mysql?
