Hibernate version: 2.1.6

I'd like to have a bean that has a getter and setter for date (to support QBE). However, I'd like the DATETIME column that represents the entry date to be generated in the DB itself because I can't ensure all clients will have synchronized/accurate clocks.

Wha'ts the right way to express this in Hibernate and MySQL?
