I would like Hibernate (2.1.3, Oracle and MySQL) to execute SQL similar to this:

Code:
insert into my_user_table values (username, my_function(password))

I have found how to use the function on select by extending the appropriate dialect class and using registerFunction, I can then use the function in my HQL, but I can't find how to do the insert that I would like. I don't really want to implement my_function in the class and in the database.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
