 Post subject: how to map a LONGRAW column

I need to map a LONGRAW column. First I wonder that

* Can I use "String" for the attribute type that maps to the longraw column? How java serializes binary data to String ?

* Can I use simple querying for the longraw column
"Slect a.VALUE from SLD"

any ideas..?
