Apologies if this is something that has been covered, but I cannot find the answer to this question anywhere...

I was hoping to find some state diagrams and/or a detailed explanation of what exactly happens when objects are detached and reattached via session.lock() and session.update(). The documentation describes what happens, but not in any great detail. Is this documented somewhere? I have ordered the Hibernate in Action book... but it's not due to show up for a while... maybe that has the details?
