Found this article kicking around. Good news for hibernate but it looks as though the writer didn't do a particularly good job of reviewing hibernate as there are paragraphs like this...

Quote:
Obviously my position is far from neutral, but I believe the entire enterprise Java community should be concerned with the possible outcomes of this decision. IBM and Oracle are two major players in the EJB app server space that one would expect to be at least leery of the EJB 3.0 expert group's choice. However, as database vendors also, they probably prefer Hibernate to JDO because it uses the SQL syntax of the underlying RDBMS

It's not worth discussing anything with this guy. You can easily see that his statements are not neccessarily in contact with reality.

Most of the stuff in this article is lies. Ignore this idiot. We will have to deal with a lot of this kind of FUD and smears over the next few months but, in the end, we will give the Java community something really good, that embodies the best ideas from Hibernate, TopLink and EJB.

Of course these guys are scared of EJB3, they realise it will be really good.

i'm always surprised (also afraid) with people that talk about what they don't really know.
David Jordan is not only an IDIOT, he's a COMMERCIAL IDIOT which is even more dangerous!

David Jordan founded Object Identity, Inc. to provide Java Data Objects (JDO) consulting services. He has been a member of the JDO expert group since its inception and the JDO 1.0 specification has a special recognition of his contributions. He was also recognized for his review services of JDBC 1.0. David has authored the following books: 'Java Data Objects,' O'Reilly, 2003 and 'C++ Object Databases,' Addison-Wesley, 1998
