Hello all,

Given the following table:

Letter
----------
id
fileName
fileSize
contents (this contains the actual binary file)

How would I set up my "Letter" object so that "contents" is only retrieved from the database when it is called? Once it is called and initialized, is there a way to flush it out of memory until the next time it is called (so that it is not kept in memory the entire time?)

Thanks!

Joshua

Either use a java.sql.Blob property, or use the lightweight class pattern described in the wiki.
