If I have an object that's been locked with LockMode.UPGRADE,
and I then get another persisted object through a method call
on the first object, is there any way to for the second object to
have been locked as well?

Something like:

Code:

foo = session.load(Foo.class, id, LockMode.UPGRADE);
bar = foo.getBar();

I'm wondering if it's possible for bar to have UPGRADE lock mode
as well...
