has anyone thought about changing the way Collection.size() works on a Non-Initialized lazy collection?

currently its loading the entire collection then returning the size, but I've been using a utitlity method to just use a filter on the collection and retrieve the count without populating the collection, seems like the right thing to do?

or would it break apps?

Will do an extra query in case of
Code:
if (coll.size() > 0) {
  //do some stuff on collection objects
}
