Is there any plans to support database views within the middlegen plugin? I know that only a handful of database support [SQL Server in my case] them, but it would be nice if I point it to a database that hand them that it generated the mapping files for like regular tables. Or is this already in r3 and I missed it?

Middlegen uses the JDBC meta data features to collect information about tables. Currently, we are in final stages of a version 2 final release of Middlegen and only minor changes are going into the system. I have not looked into it but I don't see why Views could not be an option. I will take not of it and we will see what can be done in the new year.

Thanks David, if I can be of any help let me know. Also, keep me posted on the status? Do you want a JIRA on this or did you create one already?

There is a link to it on the Middlegen page on the hibernate wiki. You could consider sending it to Hibernates JIRA as Middlegen's JIRA has been setup for version 3.x thus there is not a lot of activity currently [and I cannot manage entries there :-(].

I am using middlegen-2.0 with hibernate 2.1 and Oracle 8i. The default configuration of middlegen did not generate mapping files correponding to the views in my DB.
Is the support for this still pending in middlegen plugin or it is there and needs some configuration on my part.

Views support has been added to Middlegen. It is not on by default so you need to add the Ant task attribute ' includeViews'. If your having problems with your current version of Middlegen I suggest you try the current CVS version.
