Yes in JTA, this is more a J2EE question than an Hibernate one.
No, Hibernate does not provide built in JTA. It delegates to an app server one.

I know one can configure multiple SessionFactories in JBoss for example, but I don't know if a session facade with CMT that is using multiple session factories can really do the work.

Can you give some pointers to follow?
