Hi Spring followers,

I'm pleased to announce that we've just released 1.0 M2, the second milestone release towards 1.0 and fourth public release in total. It contains numerous bug fixes and new features; see the change log for details.

A major change in terms of samples is that Petclinic is now available in alternative implementations for JDBC and Hibernate; therefore, the minimum Hibernate jars are now included in the distribution. Furthermore, the skeletons have been repackaged into "webapp-minimal" and "webapp-typical", the latter with multiple application context configurations.

Regards,
Juergen

Gavin, Christian, et al,

Please add the Petclinic sample app to the Demo Applications section on http://www.hibernate.org/27.html. Of course, I'd like to keep the Spring reference in "Projects With Hibernate Support / Integration" too.

Something like this maybe: "Petclinic is a sample app that comes with the Spring Framework distribution. It offers alternative DAO implementations for Hibernate and JDBC." (as a side note: since 1.0 M2, with Hibernate being the default now)

Finally, I intend to write an article on Petclinic's Hibernate DAO implementation for the Hibernate Wiki in the near future, in a tutorial style. Maybe in time for the upcoming Spring release 1.0 M3, we'll see.

Thanks in advance,
Juergen

Added it to the Demo App page. Article/Tutorial for the Hibernate site would be great. :)
